The Chicken Curry Recipe – An Easy Indian Homemade Recipe is for chicken lovers especially the youngsters.

Chicken is easily available and cheap as compared to mutton. Doctors always suggest chicken for all age groups and patients. Of course, the recipe will be simple and non-spicy for the patient.

Ingredients used in Chicken Curry Recipe

Chicken

Chickens are the most common and widely spread domestic animals. Chicken outnumber all other birds on the planet. It is an omnivores kind of animal. A male chicken is called “Rooster” and a female is called “Hen”.

As chicken has an excellent protein supply, It benefits our health in a variety of ways. It helps to strengthen our bones and muscles, lose weight, reduces osteoporosis, Increases bone mineral density and improves our mood.

The nutritional value of Chicken is calorie – 109, protein – 13.5 gm, fat- 5.7 gm, carbohydrates – 0.  It also contains vitamin B12, zinc, copper and choline.

Potato

Potato is a completely optional ingredient for this preparation. We like potatoes, so use them in this curry recipe. You may or may not use this. If you use potato, then half fry it and then add them with chicken. The full fried potato will be melted once it thoroughly cooked along with the chicken.

Red chilli powder  – It is used for the red colour texture of the curry. This powder is not spicy.

Red chilli powder – For a spicy taste, we use this powder. If you like more spicy, you can add according to your taste.

Turmeric powder, salt, sugar – These will help the colour, taste and balance of the dish.

Yogurt – I use Amul yogurt for the thickness of the curry. It also adds to the taste.

Onion, Ginger, Green Chilli, Garlic and Tomato – These also make the curry thick, tasty and spicy. The use of “beresta” ( Golden-fried thin onion) improves the texture.

Garam Masala – You can use any branded comapny’s garam masala. I prefer to use homemade garam masala. I will provide you with the process of homemade garam masala in my next content. Its taste is far better than any branded one.

Ghee – Amul ghee is my preferred choice. The taste of this ghee is unique. You can use any branded or homemade ghee. Though I like homemade ghee, The cream in today’s milk is not the same as it was in the past.

Mustard Oil – Mustard oil is perfect for this dish rather than any other oil.

Tips for making Chicken Curry Recipe

⇔ Marination in the right way is very essential to make this dish. Always remember that all ingredients should be properly and evenly mixed up with the chicken.

⇔ The more you keep the marinated chicken in the refrigerator more will be the taste. I prefer to keep marinated chicken over the night. You can find the difference.

⇔ Most of the preparation should be on the low flame. It helps to boil the chicken completely and become soft.

Directions

The Chicken Curry Recipe is basically an easy recipe but it takes time. The more time you keep marinated chicken in the refrigerator, the taste will be better. The chicken will absorb all ingredients evenly. The maximum cooking process must be in low flame.

Step 1

Under running water, wash the skinless chicken. If you don't clean the blood correctly, it will upset your stomach. Cut the chicken into the size and shape you like.

Step 2

Cut 1 onion, ginger, garlic, tomato and green chilli for pasting. Put all these into a jar and paste it as smooth texture. Nothing should be left unpasted.

Step 3

Mix these paste with chicken. Add turmeric powder, salt, sugar, red chilli powder, Kashmiri red chilli powder and yoghurt. Marinate all things evenly and equally.

Step 4

Keep marinated chicken in a refrigerator for a minimum of 2 hours.

Step 5

Take a Kadai or pan. Pour 2 tbsp oil and heat it.

Step 6

Cut all potatoes into 2 equal pieces. Wash it and medium fry it with the heated oil. Take the potatoes out of the Kadai or pan. Keep them aside.

Step 7

Again pour 4 tbsp oil in the Kadai or pan and heat it.

Step 8

Add bay leaf and dry red chilli to the heated oil.

Step 9

Add the marinated chicken. You must take out the marinated chicken from the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before cooking.

Step 10

Cover it with a lid. Turn your gas in medium flame for 2 minutes and then in low flame for 5 minutes.

Step 11

Stir the entire thing and add 2 cups water and half fried potatoes. Cook it for 5 minutes in high/medium flame.

Step 12

Cover it again and cook on a low flame till the chicken will completely be boiled.

Step 13

Take another pan and pour 2 tbsp oil. Heat it. Add finely chopped 1 onion and fry till golden brown. Take it out from the pan and keep it aside.

Step 14

Add golden brown fried onion, ghee and garam masala. Stir properly.

Step 15

Chicken Curry is ready. Serve it with hot steamed rice or roti/paratha/nan. you can also serve salad with this yummy dish.
